Practical Joke Played on Wife

By Gary Anderson of Squidoo Lensmaster

An Introduction to the Ultimate Practical Joke.

In the 80's my wife and children and myself were visiting Cambria, Ca on the central coast. We were at a buffet, and there was ambrosia in the choice for salads. My wife loves ambrosia. If you read on you will see just how I was able to substitute something a little different from ambrosia on her plate without her knowing it. Don't try this at home kids!

And husbands, don't try this or your marriage will look like the photo of the 1983 Coalinga earthquake. False advertising or bait and switch is generally a commercial term but I did it for free, lol.

The Whole Story about the Cambria Practical Joke.

Well, we were in the buffet, and I noticed another concoction sitting in some white sauce. As it turned out, it was pickled herring. I managed to put it on my wife's plate, thinking that she would notice it and we would get a good laugh.

Problem was, she didn't notice the pickled herring and still thought it was ambrosia, lol. Later she told me that the herring looked like grape, so she didn't give it a thought. Anyway, she took a big spoonful of the herring in sour cream, and the fireworks started.

My wife's face turned beet red, a kodak moment for sure, except that I didn't have my camera. Unfortunately, her response was way more upsetting than I had anticipated. She ran into the bathroom with tears in her eyes, and didn't come out for a long time. My daughter went in and came out saying that my wife wanted a divorce.

Of course I knew she wouldn't really divorce me, but I had to do some quick thinking. Fortunately I had noticed a vendor outside of the buffet selling black hills gold jewelry. I was pretty much compelled to buy a gold ring for my wife.

In fact the purpose of this lens is to recoup my money spent on that ring. (Just kidding, I'm a kidder)

Anyway, wifee has said that the memory of the taste always stays with her whenever she thinks about the story, but so does the ring. Whew!

So there is a moral to the story, don't do anything like that to your wife unless you are prepared to cough up some buckage:)
